God has an amazing palette

Post from Kevin:
After a long drive we arrived in Maun for a re-stock and rest before venturing into the Central Kalahari and the Nxai pan. The Okavango lodge was a nice retreat next to the river with shade and grass although the time went quickly as we soon realised we had lots to do! Excellent information was provided by the enigmatic owners of French Connection (George & Mari), consequently changing our plans for a trip to Kubu Island.Nxai was everything we thought it would be silent and beautiful with our very own Baobabs for shade and no one else (except for the scorpions)!

Then a long drive through the Makgadikgadi game reserve over the pontoon over the Nagwala River to the gateway to the Central Kalahari. Sandy has wanted to visit this area since she was a child and we both agree this has been one of the highlights so far. Sightings of Owls, vultures, bateleurs, bee eaters, bat eared foxes, jackal, brown hyena, lots of buck and plenty of lions! One evening sitting by the waterhole Sandy spotted a lion coming out of the bush camera ready she started taking pictures unbeknown there was a second and third that were stalking us as we sat in the car! We set up camp very quickly that night as all the camps are within short walking distances from all the waterholes. The wildlife was amazing but the sunsets and moon rises have been breathtaking – we both agreed we will be back some day – let us know if you think God was especially generous with his palette !!!
